A newly formed Youth Garden Club will meet for the first time on March 21 at the Southside Recreation Center, 2750 Ben Ficklin Road. The eight-week spring session for third-fifth graders will teach youth about growing vegetables, safely preparing vegetables, creating wildlife habitats and caring for the environment. Meetings will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Attendees will work with Master Gardeners in the new Children’s Adventure Garden planting, weeding and watering new plants from the rainwater harvesting tanks.
Cost is $10 per child for the spring session. Preregistration deadline is March 11.
