YMCA San Angelo accepting registration for youth basketball, strongman competition, workouts

The YMCA of San Angelo, 353 S. Randolph St., is accepting registration for several programs including youth basketball league, a youth basketball clinic, a youth basketball development league, a strongman competition and lunchtime workouts.

Youth basketball competitive league

Registration is open for the youth basketball competitive league through Nov. 18. The program is open to children in grades 4-6. The season will be from Jan. 14-Feb. 25 with games played on Saturdays.

Teams with a minimum seven players already formed can register as a group. Players must already be on the coach’s roster with no individual registrations.

Cost is $65 for YMCA members and $75 for non-members and includes a game jersey and end of season award. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Youth basketball clinic

There will be a December youth basketball clinic for grades 1-6 with registration open through Nov. 30. The clinic will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 28-Dec. 1 in the YMCA gym.

Cost is $50 for YMCA members and $65 for non-members and includes a clinic T-shirt.

Instructors will be former and current college players and coaches. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Registration is open for the youth basketball developmental league through Nov. 18. The league is open for children in grades 1-6 with the season open from Jan. 14-Feb. 25. Games will be played on Saturdays.

Strongman Competition

The inaugural Bus Pull Competition is now accepting registration for individuals and teams. The competition is Dec. 10 in the YMCA parking lot.

Cost for individual entry is $20 or $60 per team.

Lunchtime workouts

“Lunch Crunch” at the YMCA is held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon.

Former professional athlete and trainer, Avery Rigg, leads 30-minute workouts for functional development, muscular strength and cardiovascular improvement.

Cost is $21 monthly for YMCA members and $35 for non-members.
