The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued a winter weather advisory for the areas including Sterling City, Robert Lee and Ballinger until 1 p.m. Thursday. Light snow mixed with sleet is expected in the area with some accumulation possible.
Locally, there continues to be a 40 percent chance of a wintry mix in the Concho Valley with some areas reporting sleet. Currently, there does not appear to be accumulation.
Chances for snow, freezing rain and sleet are before noon. Thursday will be cloudy and cold with a steady temperature around 31 degrees and wind chill values between 17 and 22 degrees. Conditions will be blustery with a north northeast wind at 10 to 20 mph. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulations of less than a half-inch are possible.
Shortly after 9 a.m., the San Angelo Police Department said sleet was reported in the San Angelo and surrounding areas. the SAPD said about a 1/2 inch or more of snow had been reported 10 miles southwest of Robert Lee.
Drivers should be cautious on bridges and overpasses as weather could affect road conditions.
