A Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) satellite clinic is scheduled to open at Goodfellow Air Force Base on May 3.
The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays monthly. The clinic will be located in Goodfellow’s Airman & Family Readiness Center, 171 Valiant St., Bldg 145.
The WIC program is a special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children to aid in improving diets for infants, children and pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women who are at risk for nutrition-related illness. WIC serves foster parents, grandparents and single parents. The program is available to anyone in the community who meets guidelines. The local program serves citizens in San Angelo and six surrounding counties.
“Our new Goodfellow clinic gives us a golden opportunity to reach and to serve an important military clientele at a place that is familiar and convenient to them,” WIC manager Gillian Mackenzie said. “We’re looking forward to helping our military families by providing healthful foods, nutrition education and support for mothers who breastfeed.”
The Goodfellow clinic will be WIC’s third satellite location.
