Voices Unlimited quartet to perform Christmas concert at Christoval monastery

Angelo State University’s select alumni choir, the Voices Unlimited quartet, will perform its annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Mount Carmel Hermitage Monastery in Christoval.

The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the concert and the Hermitage gift shop will be open for purchases.

As a tribute to the Mexican Christmas tradition of “las posadas,” the group will sing selections from Conrad Susa’s “Carols and Lullabies of the Southwest.” Other selections include a medley of songs from Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” and a medley of “bell carols” arranged by the group’s director and accompanist, Dr. Pamela Lee, ASU professor of music and director of choral activities.

The Voices Unlimited Quartet includes Patti Wetzel, soprano; Suzi Reynolds, alto; Jake Keefer, tenor; and Mark Cooper, baritone.

Directions to the monastery can be found at carmelitehermits.org.
