UTSA goes to bowl for the first time

The football program at the University of Texas at San Antonio hit a milestone Sunday, receiving a bowl invitation for the first time since kicking off its inaugural season in 2011.

As reported by KENS 5 Eyewitness News, The Roadrunners, who beat Charlotte 33-14 Nov. 26 to become bowl eligible with their sixth victory of the season, will play the University of New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl Dec. 17 in Albuquerque.

UTSA  will be the third Football Bowl Subdivision school in the modern era to play in a bowl as early as its sixth season, joining South Alabama and Georgia State.

UTSA was 5-3 in Conference USA this season, finishing second in the West Division.
