After a reported assault at the 800 Block of Elm Street in Miles, the Miles Police Department responded to the call at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered a male victim who appeared to be deceased. The name of this victim is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
A male victim has been taken into custody at the residence and was booked into Miles County Jail. Until formal charges are filed, the name of the suspect is Tommy Peiser.
Miles Chief of Police Quentin Watkins is in charge of the investigation and it is being treated as a homicide.
The initial response included the Runnels County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, and the Miles Volunteer Fire Department.
The Texas Rangers are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
