On Saturday, January 20, police were called after an online sale turned into an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Super Mercado at 1505 South Chadbourne.
Two men met in the parking lot of the grocery store after messaging back and forth online regarding the sale of a game system.
However, when the exchange was to take place, the suspect pointed a handgun at the person selling the system and then fled on foot.
The suspect’s name is Alejandro “Alex” Olvera.
Police reviewed the messages leading up to the exchange in an attempt to locate the suspect’s current whereabouts.
Later in the day, members of the SAPD’s Anti-Crime Unit and their K-9 unit surrounded the residence where Olvera was believed to be. He surrendered peacefully.
Olvera was taken to Tom Green County Jail after being charged with Aggravated Robbery. His bail is set at $50,000.
Police were able to find and collect the stolen property and the handgun used in the robbery.
