UPDATE: TGCSO arrest man for no-show in alleged sex abuse case

UPDATE: The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department have located and arrested Stephen Kelly Franks who did not show up for his trial date Monday morning. Franks is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, victim under 14. 

As of Tuesday, Franks remains in the Tom Green County Jail. His bond is set at $500,000.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are looking for Stephen Kelly Franks, 37, after he did not show up for his trial before 51st District Court Monday morning. Franks is accused of continuous sexual abuse of a child, victim under 14.

According to court documents, the defendant committed two or more acts of sexual abuse against a child younger than 14 years of age. Court documents also state Franks continuously abused the child from approximately Sept. 1, 2008, through May 15, 2013.

A report about the abuse was filed with police on April 14, 2014. The victim told police Franks continually raped her from the time she was in kindergarten until 2013, at two different addresses. It began in their home on Lindenwood Drive and continued when they moved to Waco Street. The victim also told police Franks abused her almost daily from 2008, until she moved out of the home in 2013.

Franks’ trial was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Bailiff Brian Elkins called Franks’ name three times but he was not present in the courtroom.

An arrest warrant has been issued and Franks’ bond has been set at $500,000.
