At 9:46 p.m. Saturday, San Angelo police officers received a call about a shooting victim in north San Angelo on the 1100 block of East 22nd Street.
According to Sgt. Cade Solsbery with San Angelo Police Department, when officers arrived at the scene they discovered two males who has been shot on the property. One was transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment and the other died at the scene. The male who was transported to Shannon was taken into surgery and is still alive.
“Investigators are currently following up with several possible leads as far as who did the shooting,” Solsbery said. “But there are no suspects in custody at this moment.”
A two-block perimeter from Main to Bradford streets and from 22nd to 20th streets was established while SAPD officers were interviewing witnesses and searching for people involved in the shooting. A vehicle was seen at the scene, but specific details could not be released at this moment.
Solsbery did not believe there was any danger to residents in the area. He believes the shooting was most likely a specific incident where the victims were directly targeted. It could be gang-related, Solsbery said.
Det. Carlton Kolb is in charge of the investigation and according to Solsbery the investigation appears to be going well.
“Officers are following up on several leads,” Solsbery said.
He hopes he will be able to release more information about the shooting Sunday or at the latest, Monday morning.
