Tornadoes reported in Big Spring and Garden City Sunday night

Tornadoes were reported near Big Spring and Garden City Sunday night as a strong storm system moved through the area.

The National Weather Service in Midland issued a tornado warning in Howard County at 6:44 p.m. Sunday after a tornado was spotted over Big Spring Air Park.

At 9:10 p.m., a warning was issued for a confirmed tornado over Garden City moving south at 10 mph.

A team from the NWS Midland will survey any damage as they inspect the areas Monday.

A family at a home in Forsan was reportedly trapped in their home’s restroom, according to the NWS. Emergency responders had trouble getting to the family because of flooding, but were eventually able to rescue them from the destroyed home.

The storm system that produced the tornadoes continued until approximately midnight, but no other tornadoes were reported.
