USA Today reported a list of the top 25 cities where crime is highest.
While San Angelo is #25 on that list, it’s not exactly what any city wants to be known for.
According to the report, in 2011 San Angelo’s crime rate showed 251 incidents per 100,000 residents.
That number soared in 2016 when the number of incidents per 100,000 residents rose to 334.
Despite this climb, San Angelo is still resting lower in crime than the national average 386 incidents per 100,000 Americans.
USA Today reported that a climb in crime can be the result higher rates of unemployment and lower incomes.
