Three-vehicle collision on Sunset and Sherwood slows traffic

A Nixle alert was distributed at approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday to avoid Sherwood Way and Sunset Drive because of a collision that involved three vehicles on the 4200 block of Sunset Drive.

According to a statement from San Angelo Police Department Officer Josh Loudermilk, the crash involving a blue Dodge Durango, a white Nissan and a maroon Chevrolet Suburban was caused because of one of the vehicle attempting to make a left turn from Sherwood Way onto Sunset Drive failed to yield the right-of-way with another vehicle traveling eastbound on Sherwood Way.

Both vehicles collided, forcing the one making the left turn into a third vehicle stopped on Sunset Drive, who was making a left turn on Sherwood Way.

The driver of the Durango who was making the left turn was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way making a left turn, no driver’s license and no insurance.

No injuries were reported, but a few involved in the collision will go to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment.
