The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office’s Crisis Intervention Unit is recruiting volunteers for its spring training session, which will be held from Jan. 28-March 4.
Volunteers are civilian first responders who provide crisis intervention on the scene with crime or crisis victims, when requested by law enforcement.
Classes are 36 hours of training and on successful completion, volunteers will be eligible to sign up for 12-hour shifts where they carry a pager to be called on request. Volunteers always respond in pairs.
Volunteers are required to be older than 18 and able to pass a background check. Applications can be found at CIUcares.com.
