Texas DPS trooper finds missing California teen during traffic stop

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper found a teenager reported missing from California during a traffic stop Tuesday night.

According to a press release from DPS, at approximately 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, the trooper conducted a traffic stop on a black BMW passenger vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 10 mile marker 286 in Pecos County.

During contact with the occupants, the trooper identified a young female and confirmed she was a 17-year-old missing juvenile from Gridley, California.

DPS special agents also assisted in this investigation and the juvenile was transported to the Fort Stockton Juvenile Detention Center. The release said the vehicle’s other occupants were interviewed and released.
