San Angelo police have arrested a 33-year old San Angelo man accused of sexual assault.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a residence in the northeast part of the city on the report of an assault.
When they arrived on the scene, they spoke to a 34-year old San Angelo woman who told them she’d been sexually assaulted by a past acquaintance who she identified as Francisco E. Arambula, according to a press release from the SAPD.
More officers came to the scene and searched the residence and nearby area attempting to locate Arambula, however, he was not located. When they were on the scene, officers collected evidence and text messages that Arambula sent the victim after the incident.
SAPD Det. J. Cannady responded to continue the investigation along with Crime Scene Investigations and they discovered Arambula entered the victim’s residence through a window. On Tuesday morning, Cannady applied for search and arrest warrants for Arambula and officers tried to find Arambula at multiple locations.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, members of the department’s Special Operations Section (S.O.S.) Narcotics Section, Criminal Investigations Division and Lake Patrol Division executed the warrants at a residence in the 2300 block of Chestnut Street. Arambula was arrested without incident.
During a search of the residence, officers found evidence related to the sexual assault as well as evidence that connected Arambula to a burglary that occurred at the same victim’s residence on March 24, 2016.
He was charged with felony 2 sexual assault and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
Arambula has also been charged with felony 2 burglary of a habitation.
Cannady is the lead investigator on the sexual assault case. Det. J. Hernandez is the lead investigator on the burglary case.
