Authorities arrested 20-year-old Arcan Cetin Saturday night in connection with the Washington mall shooting that left five people dead.
According to USA TODAY, the gunman, dressed in black, opened fire Friday evening in the makeup department of a Macy’s store at Cascade Mall in Burlington, which is about 65 miles north of Seattle
Cetin, of Oak Harbor, Washington, was taken into custody about 29 miles southwest of Burlington, but no further details have been released regarding the arrest.
Surveillance footage from the Cascade Mall showed the suspect entering the building late Friday without a weapon. However, about 10 minutes later he was seen carrying a hunting rifle as he walked into Macy’s.
Four female victims died at the scene and a male victim died later that night after he succumbed to his injuries. Their identities have not yet been released.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Francis said authorities believe that there was only one shooter, but his motive remains unknown. It is also unclear whether the victims were specifically targeted.
Cetin now faces five counts of first-degree murder charges.
The shooting comes one week after a man stabbed 10 people at a Minnesota mall before he was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer.
