During the stop, Mata confessed to the Officer, that he did not have a driver’s license with him.
Mata got out of the vehicle and locked the doors, raising the Officer’s suspicion.
A records check through Dispatch, showed Mata to have an expired license in addition to an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Mata was placed into custody and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
When Officers conducted a search of Mata’s vehicle, they discovered a pistol, which was confirmed stolen on October 16, 2017, from the Southeast Mini Storage facility, 4469 S. Chadbourne, in addition to three other firearms, ammunition, and a 2005 Yamaha R6 motorcycle.
Mata was arrested on his warrant and additionally charged with “Theft of Firearm”.
Mata may face several additional charges pending the conclusion of an ongoing investigation.
