The San Antonio Spurs will retire Tim Duncan’s jersey, number 21, Sunday after the team’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans at the AT&T Center.
As reported by KENS 5 Eyewitness News, Duncan has stayed away from the media in the five months after his retirement ended one of the longest and greatest careers in NBA history. However, he is set to address fans and media in a speech Sunday night.
“It’s a special day and I hope he enjoys it,” guard Danny Green said. “I know the fans will enjoy it. I know I’ll enjoy it. The rest of the team, the guys that were here with him during most his tenure, will definitely enjoy it. It’ll be a good day.”
The Spurs have the second-best record in the league this season, and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. They have 21 wins going into tonight’s game.
