A service for 52-year-old Elizabeth “Liz” Pope, the Iraan cheer squad sponsor killed last week in a crash in Howard County, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Iraan High School auditorium.
An online obituary said Pope will be buried in Iraan’s Restland Cemetery following Thursday’s service.
A portion of the obituary for Pope reads: “Among many other things, we will indefinitely miss her radiant smile, her beautiful laugh and “war-chant,” her infamous chocolate sheet cake and sugar cookies, her love for helping others, her devotion to God and the Catholic church, her dance moves whenever the band/DJ plays “Funkytown” at our family gatherings, her passion for the Iraan Braves and Bravettes (who she called “her girls”) and her unconditional love for her husband, children and grandchildren. She served as an educator for the Iraan Sheffield Independent School and the Catholic church and development teacher to the community youth. She loved being a part of the Iraan Brave community.”
