The local Sears store will be closing January 2018, along with many others of the popular chain and several Kmart stores as well.
The once profitable chain has declared that they are no longer turning a profit large enough to stay in business.
San Angelo is among the list of locations to close their doors.
The company will be closing 45 Kmart stores and 18 Sears stores across the nation.
Sears will stay open through the holiday season for the benefit of their consumers but will begin closing with the new year.
The closing of the stores has been attributed to the retail market slowing down and a growing number of consumers switching to online shopping, according to sources such as USA Today.
Sears will also no longer sell Whirlpool products due to a disagreement between companies over pricing.
