The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a fatal, single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Country Club and Grand Canal roads that occurred early Sunday morning.
According to an SAPD press release, just before 1 a.m. San Angelo Police and Fire department personnel were dispatched to the intersection for the report of a major motor vehicle crash with entrapment.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a white 2013 Chrysler 200 flipped on its roof with the driver, 36-year-old Jennifer Wall, unresponsive. Fire department personnel utilized the jaws of life to extricate Wall, who was the only occupant.
She was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The incident remains under investigation. However, the preliminary investigation shows Wall was traveling westbound in the 1600 block of Grand Canal Road when her vehicle left the roadway, traveled across a private drive and collided with a utility pole and surrounding trees. The force of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn. Wall was not wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators said alcohol could be a contributing factor to the crash.
