The recent end of the Meet & Confer contract between the San Angelo Police Department and the City has resulted in three part time officers stepping down from the department.
Robert Loyd, was originally hired in 1974, retired in 2003 and then returned in 2009 as a part time officer assigned to the Pawn Divison. Loyd has helped to recover large amounts of stolen property for the community.
John Palmer joined the Department in 1980 and retired in 2007 only to return a year later to join the Traffic Section. Palmer has assisted with crashes, traffic control and escorts.
Jim Coleman was hired in 1981 but left to pursue a career in U.S. Customs and Homeland Security, where he served for 24 years. Coleman joined the department’s Cold Case Division in 2012. He will stay on as a Reserve Officer to continue working on 15 cold cases.
The Department’s Press Release states that “These officers’ work has had a profound impact on our Department and their experience and expertise will be sorely missed.”
