SAPD promoting four, welcoming two back

A promotion ceremony for four San Angelo Police officers will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive. Additionally, two former SAPD officers will be sworn back onto the force.

Officers Rick Tinsley, Ben Spencer, Antoine Callum and Brian Gesch will be promoted to the rank of sergeant.  Dakota Martin and Louis Cortinas will be sworn in as officers.

Tinsley joined the SAPD on March 1, 1999, and has worked as a patrol officer, a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division and the Special Operations Section and Community Services. Tinsley was made an acting patrol sergeant on Feb. 1, 2016, has a total of 5,643 training hours and holds a Master Peace Officer License.

Spencer joined the SAPD on April 16, 2009, and has worked as a patrol officer since completing the Basic Peace Officer Academy. Spencer was made an acting patrol sergeant on Feb. 7, 2016, has 1,799 training hours and holds a Basic Peace Officer License.

Callum joined the SAPD on Oct. 10, 2008, and has worked as a patrol officer and a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division and the Special Operations Section.  Callum was made an acting patrol sergeant on April 3, 2016, has 4,416 training hours and holds an Advanced Peace Officer License.

Gesch joined the SAPD on April 16, 2004, and has worked as a patrol officer in the Lake Patrol Division, the K-9 Division and is a member of the SWAT team. Gesch was made an acting patrol sergeant on April 11, 2016, has 3,487 hours of training and holds a Master Peace Officer License.
