The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday night on West Avenue O.
Just before 9:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the residence for the report of a shooting, which was first reported as a stabbing. Officers arrived and found a 31-year-old San Angelo man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Officers provided first aid to the victim until San Angelo Fire Department paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Crime Scene Investigations and Criminal Investigations responded to the scene to further investigate.
It was discovered that a Hispanic male assaulted and shot the victim in front of the victim’s residence, then stole a red 1991 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck the victim had been operating. After the shooting, the victim went to a neighbor’s house for help.
Physical evidence of the shooting was located at the crime scene.
The suspect is still at large, but investigators are pursuing several leads.
