SAPD investigating weekend stabbing at local apartment complex

The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened early Sunday morning at the Bellagio Apartments, 2508 Sweetbriar Drive.

A press release from the SAPD said police were dispatched at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday on the report of a stabbing.
When they arrived on the scene, officers found a group of people standing over a man who was suffering from a stab wound to the back. San Angelo Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the 23-year-old man to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.
Officers found out that before the stabbing, the victim was involved in a physical altercation outside one of the units. While investigating the incident, officers found the suspect still on the property.
The man, identified as 19-year-old Jesus Pablo Salinas, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Tom Green County Jail. Police also located and recovered the weapon used in the assault.
The incident is currently under investigation and no other information is available for release at this time, according to the SAPD.
