A man who robbed two local convenience stores at gunpoint Friday night was later located by San Angelo Police officers and taken into custody.
According to Officer Cade Solsbery with the San Angelo Police Department, officers received a call about a robbery at 11:26 p.m. Friday at the 7-Eleven store on, near Ben Ficklin Road.
A male subject had pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money from the register. Before police arrived the suspect had left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, Solsbery said, but the clerk was not injured.
While officers were investigating the robbery, officers were dispatched at 11:43 p.m. to Star Stop on 2902 N. Bryant Blvd, for another robbery where the suspect matched the description from the previous robbery, according to Solsbery.
The suspect had once again pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money from the register and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
A description of the suspect and his vehicle was obtained from both clerks, and while SAPD Officer B. Howarth was checking the stripes convenience stores on Pulliam Street, he noticed the suspect’s vehicle driving on Pulliam Street.
“A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as 34-year-old Brandon Wayne ONeil of Robert Lee,” Solsbery said.
According to Solsbery, Det. Dye with the Criminal investigation was contacted to conduct an investigation into the robberies.
As a result of the investigation, ONeil was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
ONeil has previously been arrested for theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle. His bond has yet to be set.
