SAPD Gains New Chaplain

The San Angelo Police Department welcomes new Chaplain, Gary Jenkins to their team. Jenkins was sworn in by Police Chief Frank Carter in the chief’s office and accompanied by his wife, Pastor Marcella Jenkins during the ceremony.

Jenkins joins seven other chaplains with the department who offer counseling to officers and their families. The chaplains also have relationship with other ministry members of the community, attend public events on behalf of the department and assist with crises when needed.

Jenkins has a Bachelor of Science from Christian Leadership Bible College, as well as an honorary Doctorate from Covenant Christian College.

He is originally from Kansas City, Missouri. He is a Vietnam War Veteran who served in the Marine Corps.

Jenkins also served as a part of President Nixon’s security detail at Camp David from 1972-1973.
