SAPD encourages winter weather safety tips, temperatures reach record lows

Temperatures across the Concho Valley dropped below freezing Saturday night, and there are some safety tips the San Angelo Police Department encourages residents to take.

In a press release on their Facebook page, the department said it is important to dress in layers and cover all exposed skin.

Residents should not be outside for prolonged periods of time unless necessary.

Also, if traveling, it is encouraged to keep extra blankets in the vehicle in case the driver and passengers become stranded.

According to the San Angelo National Weather Service, the high temperature for Sunday will reach 33 degrees before dropping into the teens Sunday night into Monday. They encourage residents to bring all plants and animals indoors until temperatures rise later this week.
