A 31-year old San Angelo man was arrested Thursday night after fleeing a traffic stop on foot. Curby St. Mary was located by Police Service Dog, Thor.
According to a release from the San Angelo Police Department, at 11:42 p.m. Thursday, SAPD Officer P Garrett made a traffic stop near the intersection of East Avenue I and South Oakes Street on a gold colored 2001 Oldsmobile Alero for an improper right turn.
As the vehicle stopped, St. Mary, who was the front passenger, fled on foot. Patrol officers set up a perimeter in the direction St. Mary was last seen headed. Officer J Fisher and his police service dog (PSD), Thor, responded to track where St. Mary fled.
The release states Thor led officers to a house in the 1300 block of Duggan Street where St. Mary was located hiding in the backyard. He was found to have outstanding warrants.
St. Mary was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with his outstanding warrants and evading arrest or detention on foot.
Another passenger in the vehicle, 18-year old Surena Rojas, was also found to have outstanding warrants and was arrested. The driver, 34-year old Jonas Huereca, was given a warning for the improper right turn and released at the scene.
