San Antonio Police Department announces punishment for officers who wore Trump hats

Six supervisors and seventeen officers with the San Antonio Police Department who wore “Make America Great Again” hats and posed for pictures with Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump Tuesday will receive punishment.

According to KENS 5 Eyewitness News, SAPD Chief William McManus said in a statement Friday that six supervisors will be issued a written reprimand, 17 officers will be provided with written counseling and other officers involved will receive training on impartiality and fairness.

The photo was taken after the officers served Trump’s motorcade during his visit to San Antonio for a private fundraising event.

“Our mission is to treat all people with integrity, compassion, fairness, and respect,” McManus said. “The recent actions by the officers assigned to the escort detail for the presidential candidate are inconsistent with our guiding principals.”
