San Angelo Rodeo ambassadors hosting drill team tryouts

The San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Ambassadors are hosting drill team tryouts at 1 p.m. April 10 at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena, 200 E. 43rd St.

The drill team is comprised of 12 members who are required to be excellent riders and horsemen. The team sets pivots and posts colors and perform drills during rodeo performances locally and across the state. The team is required to attend numerous, extensive drill practices year-round. They perform in the area and volunteer during San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo events as well as within the community.

Applicants for the drill team are required to provide a current copy of the Coggins test for each participating horse along with completed applications. Candidates are encouraged to bring all horses that could be used for performance but must select the best choice for tryouts.

Applicants must be 14 years of age by their first rodeo performance and not older than 24 at the time of tryouts; single; having never married or nullified a marriage; pregnant or have been pregnant; or have been charged with or convicted of a felony orĀ  a misdemeanor to be eligible for tryouts. The must also pass a background check.
