On Tuesday, October 10, the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, San Angelo Concho Cadre, Mayor Brenda Gunter and City Councilman Harry Thomas gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome new business, San Angelo Clubhouse.
This new organization provides adults with mental health issues a place to spend the day, build relationships, receive assistance with personal goals, and learn vocational and life skills.
There are only five organizations like this in the state of Texas.
Membership is free and eligibility requires that one be 18 years of age or older, have a mental health diagnosis, follow a treatment plan and not be a danger to yourself or others.
The clubhouse is located at a newly renovated riverfront property across from Bosque Park. The location includes computers and a circuit machine for creating t-shirts.
There will also be a temporary, part-time job program to encourage members to be a part of the community and businesses to participate in helping those members.
The clubhouse will soon begin looking for businesses to assist their members with real life, on the job training.
If you are interested in your business participating in their temporary jobs program, becoming a member, or more you can contact San Angelo Clubhouse at (325) 617-7884, firstname.lastname@example.org, or their Facebook page.
