San Angelo Chef Henry D. Wiens Jr., best known for his “Let’s Eat” and “Savor Food & Life” television segments, died Friday after battling melanoma. He was 65 years old.
According to an online obituary at Harper Funeral Home, Wiens served as the executive chef and nutrition services director for Community Medical Center and dedicated his life to teaching in the kitchen.
A public memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel in The Vineyard in Christoval.
Donations can be made in his memory at mdanderson.org/gifts. A fund was set up under his name to benefit melanoma research.
He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
