Lunar New Year will be the theme for February’s Family Day at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts Saturday, Feb. 13. The free event at SAMFA, 1 Love St., will celebrate the Lunar New Year by partnering with the Association of Asian-American Women of San Angelo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cooking demonstrations by members of the AAAW will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will include sesame balls, dumplings and palitaw (steamed mochi).
Chinese calligraphy will be demonstrated from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees will participate in distributing red envelopes after designing them.
Staff and volunteers will lead projects in the education studio including shadow puppets, origami and Year of the Monkey masks.
The AAAW will host an open house at its Asian Cultural Center at 528 Orient St., near the museum.
