San Angelo Independent School District Schools will recognize National School Breakfast Week March 7-11 to encourage families to take advantage of healthy school breakfast choices available to them. The NSBW campaign theme will be “Wake Up to School Breakfast,” to remind people that school breakfast provides a healthy and energizing start to the day for students. Students will have the opportunity to participate with special menus, decorations, cafeteria events and more. They will be given the opportunity to taste new menu items and provide feedback on new recipes.
New items to be previewed include blueberry pancake on a stick, chicken sliders, whole-grain cereals and mango swirl juice. Middle and high school students will sample new breakfast burrito options.
Free breakfast is available to all SAISD elementary school students in classrooms daily. Lincoln Middle School students are offered free breakfast daily in the school cafeteria. A release from the SAISD said nutritious, affordable breakfasts are available at the remaining middle schools and on high school campuses.
