SAFD rescues driver from high water at Sul Ross crossing at Red Arroyo

San Angelo Fire Department firefighters rescued a woman from her vehicle that was trapped in high waters at Sul Ross Avenue’s crossing at the Red Arroyo early Monday morning.

The woman’s small sports car became stuck in the high waters as she tried to drive through the low water crossing. Barricades were in place at A&M and Sul Ross avenues and at Vista del Arroyo and Sul Ross when the incident occurred.

Firefighters got the woman safely out of her vehicle that remains in the roadway in high water.

According to the Texas Transportation Code, Chapter 472.022, it is a Class B misdemeanor to disregard barricades placed because water is over any portion of a road, street or highway. The driver was issued a citation for disregarding the barricades in place.
