San Angelo firefighters responded to a structure fire at a residence at 1804 Shady Point Circle Thursday afternoon and quickly extinguished the flames.
“We (Engine 8) came out here and started what you call a fast attack,” said San Angelo Fire Department Battalion Chief Ricky Long, “Knocked the fire out to keep it from spreading any further. Engine 7 backed them up.”
Long said the fire department laid a preliminary line from the hydrant in the event they had more of a fire than they anticipated. The fire was contained to the attic above the home’s garage, Long said.
The fire was extinguished and Long said firefighters were waiting on investigators to tell them how the fire started.
A woman at the scene was attended to by paramedics, but there was no indication as to the reason. A dog in the home made it out unscathed.
“Nobody was hurt, nobody was home and everybody’s gonna walk away from this one smiling,” Long said.
