The 16th annual Gus Eckhardt Trauma Symposium, “A Legacy of Trauma Care in the Concho Valley,” is slated for April 9 at the West Texas Training Center, 3501 US Hwy 67N. Registration for the event is open to the first 200 registrants with a deadline of April 7.
The symposium offers the opportunity for continuing education for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and emergency medical technicians who want to enhance skills in the care and management of trauma patients.
Featured topics from trauma care experts include a concussion update by the NFL head, neck and spinal injury committee co-chairperson; current recommendations for backboard and C-collar placement; envenomation: what to do, what not to do; burn update; respiratory mechanics and chest tubes; human trafficking; and stop the bleed.
The symposium is an intensive one-day event from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will detail accepted guidelines for trauma patient management. Physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers who attend will receive access to continuing medical education as well as provide a forum for discussion related to trauma patient care.
