Ranger man receives probation, community service for indecency with a child at a church

An 83-year-old Ranger man was sentenced to 10 years of probation and 240 hours of community service after pleading guilty to two counts of indecency with a child last week in Taylor County.

KTAB reports James “Jimmie” Lee Wright was additionally ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Court documents obtained by KTAB say the father of a 10-year-old child went to pick the child up from a church in January 2014, and when he arrived and attempted to enter the recreation room, the child’s father discovered something was blocking the door.

When he was finally able to open the door, the father said he saw his child on Wright’s lap. Court documents say the child told the father that Wright was touching them inappropriately during play time. Additionally, the child told the father that Wright inappropriately touched them on at least one other occasion.
