TIME magazine has named president-elect Donald Trump as its 2016 Person of the Year.
The magazine said it makes its selection on the person who had the greatest influence, “for better or worse,” on events throughout the year.
Earlier this week, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi had garnered the most reader votes. The publication said although it takes the readers’ opinion into consideration, its editors ultimately make the final choice on the Person of the Year.
Runners-up were Hillary Clinton, “The Hackers,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the CRISPR Pioneers and Beyonce.
