President-Elect Donald Trump made an official statement Saturday on the death of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
In the statement, he called Castro a brutal dictator and left little doubt as to how he felt about his leadership in Cuba.
“Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights,” Trump said in the statement.
He then expressed hope that his death would mark a change in the future direction of the Cuban government.
