UPDATE: Power restored at Southgate Church of Christ, voting available

UPDATE: Power has been restored at Southgate Church of Christ. According to City of San Angelo Public Information Officer, Anthony Wilson, said that no votes were lost and no voters were turned away during the outage.

Wilson said the City Clerk reported that backup batteries were able to power the electronic voting machines during the outage. A few people were able to vote aided with flashlights.

ORIGINAL STORY: Power outages are affecting voting at Southgate Church of Christ, 528 Country Club Road. Crews with Concho Valley Co-Op are aware of a large outage and are working to restore power.

Officials at the Tom Green County Elections Office said they do have battery backups at the location. Election officials do have flash lights and voters that go to Southgate will be able to manually fill out a ballot. Residents are encouraged to cast votes at another location if possible.

Election officials say the power outage should not impact voting and there should not be any lost votes.

Crews with Concho Valley Co-Op said a large power outage is affecting the area south of San Angelo including Lakeside Estates. The cause of the outage is unknown.
