The man accused of shooting and killing a Fort Worth business owner was fatally shot by a Grand Prairie police officer Friday during a physical altercation.
As reported by WFAA-TV, 30-year-old Joshua Henry faced charges in the murder of 49-year-old Nikki Blahitka.
Blahitka was found dead in her bed with a gunshot wound to the head in December 2016. She was a prominent figure in the Dallas area and owner of a successful roofing company.
Henry was out on bond.
According to Grand Prairie police, a relative of Henry called 911 to say Henry was inside their home, destroying property.
When an officer arrived, he spoke to Henry who police say became belligerent and began to walk back into the home. When the tried to stop him, a physical struggle began.
The officer fired a single shot, striking the suspect in his midsection.
The officer was placed on routine administrative leave, and the department will review footage from body cameras at the scene.
