Pickup crashes into 3 mailboxes and a utility pole on W. 19th St. after driver falls asleep

A man driving a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup fell asleep at the wheel while traveling westbound on the 700 block of W. 19th Street at approximately 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Officer Mike Gesch said the driver told police he fell asleep and drifted off to the left side of the road, taking out three mailboxes and a utility pole.

The driver did not claim any injuries.

The downed utility pole only affected the power of two nearby houses, according to Officer Gesch.

Citations were issued for driving at an unsafe speed and driving with an invalid license.
