Phoenix police officer shot while investigating a burglary dies

A Phoenix police officer died Thursday morning after being shot Wednesday night while investigating a residential burglary.

The Phoenix Police Department announced Thursday they are deeply saddened by the passing of Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser.

Glasser was critically wounded by the gunfire when he responded to the burglary. He was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries early Thursday.

The PDP said Glasser served his community and the Phoenix Police Department with honor for 12 years and that Glasser continues to serve others in death as an organ donor.

Glasser is survived by his wife and two small children; as well as his parents; sister; and a close extended family.

The PDP said they are grateful for the support received from the community in gentle times and in troubled times and said it means a great deal to PDP officers.
