Peasant Villiage hosts free Christmas Eve dinner for military

Peasant Village’s Executive Chef Jason Helfer hosted a dinner Saturday at his restaurant, making sure military stationed in San Angelo get some comfort food this Christmas Eve.

“The event is for those who have not been able to go to their family, friends and loved ones. So I decided to go ahead and do a dinner for them so they can really enjoy a home-cooked meal and kind of relax,” Helfer said. “It’s my appreciation for them taking care of us.”

Chef Helfer said he expected around 350 people to show up and looks forward to making it a yearly event.

35-day aged chopped sirloin, honey-glazed ham, rice pilaf, sautèed green beans, rolls, peach cobbler and iced tea were served.
