One man dead, three injured in Abilene crash

A 22-year-old man from Anson died at the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning.

According to Abilene Police Department officers received a call about a crash at 5:05 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of North 10th St., Aberlin.

When officers arrived at the scene they learned that a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was traveling west bound on North in the inside lane when it moved across the outside lane, struck the curb and left the roadway.

According to the release the pickup continued west bound in the grass and struck a street light pole, breaking it off the base.

The Dodge then continued until it struck another pickup parked in the driveway of a residence, causing it to spin around until both vehicles came to a stop after hitting a tree.

The driver of the Dodge was wearing a seat belt, but the three passengers were not. All four occupants were transported to Hendrick Medical Center.

According to APD the 23-year-old driver, Daniel Trujillo of Abilene and one of the other occupants, 21-year-old Joshua Lozano sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while 20-year-old Jacob Lozano sustained critical injuries and was flown to Lubbock hospital. Twenty-two-year-old Christian Garcia was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Shae at Henrick Medical Center. All three passengers are from Anson.

At this time in the investigation police officers believe possible factors in the crash can be speed and intoxication.

The incident is still under investigation by the Abilene Police Traffic Division.
