One killed, one injured Sunday in two-vehicle collision east of San Angelo

A 54-year old Mereta man was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle collision on Phinney and Lipan Creek roads, 20 miles east of San Angelo.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, 31-year old Cody Weishuhn of Mereta was driving a 2012 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck east on Lipan Creek Road and 54-year old Albert Terrazas was traveling south on Phinney Road in a 2012 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

Weishuhn disregarded a stop sign at the intersections of the two roads and collided with Terrazas’ truck. According to the press release, neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Weishuhn received non-incapacitating injuries in the crash.

Road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the collision. Next of kin have been notified.

The crash was investigated by DPS Trooper Robert Aldrete from the San Angelo office. He was assisted at the scene by Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputies and the Wall Volunteer Fire Department.
