Odessa woman wanted for 2015 child death turns herself in

A 41-year old woman wanted for criminal negligent homicide, Lori Christine Creekmore, turned herself in to Odessa Police Wednesday morning.

A release from the Odessa Police Department said that on Nov. 3, 2015, officers responded to the 2600 block of Madera Avenue in reference to a dead person at a daycare center. When they arrive on the scene, officers found an infant boy, identified as 5-month old Jeremiah Garza, dead.

After a criminal investigation, the case was forwarded to the Ector County District Attorney’s Office. Creekmore was indicted for criminal negligent homicide by an Ector County grand jury in April.

Criminal negligent homicide is a state jail felony, punishable by 180 days to two years in a state jail and up to a $10,000 fine.
